Becoming a Professional Speaker

Have you ever consider being a professional speaker? Want to know why you should pursue paid professional speaking? In this post, we will explore some of the benefits of becoming a professional speaker. Public speaking can yield much in career and life. Let’s explore to learn more.
In numerous other posts we explored how becoming a professional speaker can improve your personal brand, marketing skills, and position you as a leader in your field. Here’s a few more reasons why you should consider exploring professional speaking both professionally and personally.

Improved Earning Potential

Accomplished professional speakers can earn a minimum of $10K per speech. Best Selling Authors can command up to $40K per speech. Beginning paid speakers can make from thousands to $10’s of thousands per speaking engagement. No matter the amount, opportunity knocks for paid speakers.
Even if you don’t intend on speaking for a living, you can use professional speaking as an opportunity to improve your income potential. One or two speeches per year is enough to keep you in the speaking circuit while providing extra income.

Capitalize On Your Knowledge

Don’t think you always have to give away what you know for free. If you’re good at something, why not get some compensation for it? Professional speaking empowers you to capitalize on your skills and experience.
Strangely enough, you may find that you help more people with what you know by charging for it. Why? Because we are hardwired to value information based on the price-tag attached to it.   Accept that people are willing to pay for what you know, and follow through by improving your speaking skills.

Differentiate Yourself

Know of an area in your niche that could stand to be improved upon? Have you watched countless so-called ‘experts’ try to explain subjects you know through-and-through? If so, it’s time to step up. Have confidence and be bold. It’s time to show the world what you bring to the table.
Don’t undersell yourself. If you have the knowledge, but you lack is exposure – speaking can dramatically improve your visibility as an expert.
To Show You’re an Authority
Paid speaking is a great way to cement the notion that you are an authority in your field. If you worked hard to gain your expertise, why not share it with the world? Not only is this a unique way to add value to your brand, it can also solidify you as an expert in your field. As a result, your existing efforts gets a boost and your future potential benefits from the connections you build.

Help Others

The benefits of professional public speaking are not simply economic in nature. Another reason why you may want to become a professional speaker, is to help other people. For example, if you work in a non-profit, public speaking can both bring in payment for your speeches and additional donations. This same notion is vital to acknowledge in any industry. Whether we sell widgets or insurance, we all do something with a societal benefit and its important to remember (and appreciate) that we bring value and benefits to others. When you appreciate this, you’ll find yourself thankful for the opportunity that professional paid speaking provides you.

Luckily, becoming a professional paid speaker isn’t as difficult as it sounds. If you have any interest in professional speaking, now is your time to seize the opportunity. With the right training and support, you can develop speaking skills that propel your success. Today is your day!

  1. Hey there Joseph. I have been given an opportunity to work for my brother in law but the issue is, I have to be able to do a lot of public and professional level speaking. I would be earning $27,000 more a year over my current job. I am going to look around on the site and hopefully get some help here. I may get some training!
